At 17-years-old, Foster’s wish proves he has wisdom far beyond his years. A senior at Lehi High School, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, reading, and riding motorcycles and four-wheelers. He also loves playing football, soccer, and basketball.
Although diagnosed with Nonseminomatous germ cell tumor, Foster has not let his illness get in the way of pursuing his dreams.
Foster is a smart young man who is an excellent student. He has always believed in the importance of education for being successful in life and is very serious about his education. Foster had an eye out for his future when making his decision. Foster opened many doors with his wish — he wanted tuition to attend Dixie State University.
Foster started his junior year full of plans for advanced placement and college level courses and an ACT preparation class. Life had other plans, as he was diagnosed with cancer that same year at age 16. Despite great emotional and physical strain, a heavy dose of dedication and hard work allowed Foster to earn full credit and keep his grades up junior year.
After surgery and six months of tests with no sign of the cancer returning, Foster was more than ready to return to school for his senior year. However, his educational goals were once again put on hold when he discovered the cancer had spread. Everything Foster had planned on doing in order to earn a college scholarship weren’t possible as he turned his attention to battling cancer. Consequently, Foster knew what he really wanted to wish for was the chance to still attend college.
When Foster came to A Wishing Place for his star raising, he received a Dixie State key chain, hat, and hoodie. While he appreciated the memorabilia, Foster’s eyes simply lit up when he glimpsed the framed certificate from Dixie State and Make-A-Wish stating he had received a four year scholarship.
Foster is thrilled to become a Dixie Red Storm, and his career goal is to become a CPA. Despite extreme trials at such a young age, Foster is one driven young man who knows what he wants from life, and he is definitely going places.
