When Kailynn was diagnosed with cancer, everything went from zero to one hundred. Her mom said that one day Kailynn was healthy and the next week she was sick. After a visit to Insta-Care, Kailynn was sent to the emergency room where tests and scans showed Kailynn had tumors on both her kidneys and lungs.
Kailynn began chemotherapy right away and radiation followed soon after. The larger tumor on her right kidney was not responding to the treatments, and she had to undergo surgery two weeks before Christmas. After Christmas, her radiation started once again.
When Kailynn found out she could make a wish she knew exactly where she wanted to go: Walt Disney World® to meet her favorite princess, Ariel.
Kailynn loved her wish!
She enjoyed going on It’s a Small World and singing the song with her mom.
The most memorable part of the trip for Kailynn was, of course, actually meeting Ariel! “Meeting Ariel was her favorite part of the whole trip,” said Kailynn’s mom. “She couldn’t take her eyes off of her!” Kailynn even said that she wants to be Ariel when she grows up!
Staying at Give Kids the World Village, an 84-acre nonprofit resort catering to children with critical illness, was also a big highlight for Kailynn. “She acted more like a little kid on this trip than I had ever remembered,” said Kailynn’s mom. “She felt special. It was all about her; she got to decide everything! Now, all she wants to do is go back!” Overall, Kailynn’s wish had an impact on her entire family. Her mom was amazed by the outreach and support their family received from the community. “There really are caring people out there”, she said. “When people come together to show they care, it’s amazing.”
