Chrissy's Wish to go to Walt Disney World

Chrissy with Buzz Lightyear

“ It showed us the beauty of others, and we are hopeful for the future. ”

- Chrissy's Mom

Chrissy is a nine-year old with a tender heart who loves life. Her mom describes her as “always going.” She loves making people laugh and being outdoors. If she could swim every day, she would.

In early November of 2015, Chrissy and her family went to the doctors to check a lump that had emerged on her chest. At just eight years old, Chrissy became the youngest person to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily, Chrissy’s doctors discovered the lump early enough to surgically remove the mass; Chrissy has required check-ups every four months since her surgery.

A true wizarding fan, Chrissy loves the Harry Potter series, especially her favorite character, Ginny Weasley! Since a young age, Chrissy has loved reading and watching Harry Potter. During her treatment, Chrissy related more towards Ginny because of her strength—an undeniable strength that both girls have in common. Her love for the series and characters helped her pick her one true wish: to visit the theme parks in Florida, including the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ at Universal Orlando™.
On her wish, Chrissy was able to disconnect from hospital visits and doctors, and instead just enjoy being a kid. Her wish trip was full of laughter, great memories, and meeting amazing people. She even took home a wand from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando™, and still takes it everywhere!

On her trip, Chrissy made a lot of memories, but also grew emotionally. Her mom said the wish experience emphasized the joy that each day should be filled with.
“Every moment in life should be looked upon with wonder,” explained Chrissy’s mom.  “For Chrissy, [her wish] taught her to see the magic in everything and everyone.”

Now, Chrissy continues to carry the spirit she felt during her wish experience by enjoying life’s given moments. “Chrissy fell in love with the experience and wants to go back,” said her mom. “The magic of [a wish] gives you reassurance. It showed us the beauty of others, and we are hopeful for the future.”
