Rylee loves to travel, and since age eight, she has had a passion for photography and creating fashion designs. After being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and learning she had the opportunity to make a wish, Rylee combined all three loves into one epic wish: to be a model for a day with renowned photographer and Wish Ambassador Nigel Barker, behind the lens. This meant a trip to New York was in order!
Rylee made her wish in 2015, but because of the unique specifications of her wish, she waited longer than most for her wish to come together. The time spent waiting was filled with anticipation and surprises as her wish granters worked to keep the magic of a wish alive through the Kids for Wish Kids
program and Macy’s Believe Campaign
Rylee and her family made it to New York in 2017! They toured the Big Apple, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and Central Park. On the day of Rylee’s photoshoot, she met with makeup artists and worked with her own personal stylist before her shoot. After her makeover, Rylee said she felt so pretty and gained a newfound confidence.
For Rylee and her family, her wish gave everyone a break from the daily struggles of living with cystic fibrosis. Rylee’s mom added that the experience was something that Rylee and her family will always hold dear. Rylee has always been reserved, but being able to step into the camera allowed her to come out of her shell.
Throughout the entire wish trip, Rylee couldn’t stop smiling. Rylee’s mom said the wish experience allowed Rylee and her family to see all the good that exists in the world through the service and kindness of others. “For her to have this experience means more than anything I can give her,” her mom explained. Now, Rylee and her family have a new drive to give back and are constantly searching for opportunities to serve others.
