Lexi's Modeling trip to New York City

“ There isn’t someone you can be more proud of. She never will give up and has been a fighter since day one. ”

- Lexi's Mom

Makeup and fashion are 15-year-old Lexi’s passions. If she is not updating her Instagram page Lexi can be found watching makeup tutorials at all hours of the day! She also enjoys art and playing soccer when she can. Lexi is very outgoing and is always up for adventure.

Lexi was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. After numerous rounds of treatments and chemotherapy, Lexi is beginning to take back control of her life. She recently learned the chemotherapy has been effective and is now doing well.

When Lexi was referred to Make-A-Wish, she began the process with a wish already in mind. Drawing on her love of fashion, style, and makeup, Lexi was ready to work the runway a wished to be a model in New York City. Lexi spent her fifteenth birthday at fashion week!

Lexi’s wish was an experience filled with firsts: visiting the Big Apple was Lexi’s first time on a plane, first fashion show, and her first time meeting famous people she looked up to. Throughout her wish, she attended several fashion shows, met some of the vloggers she watches at home, and was even on the news in New York!  Lexi was nothing but smiles the whole time. On her birthday, Lexi took a carriage ride through Central Park and went to the top of the Empire State Building to see the sights. Though getting lost on the subway and getting their workout walking was an adventure, Lexi and her family had a blast.

One of her family’s highlights of the trip was to try and see how many pigeons each family member could get to land on them in the middle of Central Park. However, Lexi’s favorite part of the wish was to be able to walk the runway, have her makeup professionally done, and enjoy her very own photoshoot. Lexi also said that the pizza in New York is very memorable because of how large it is!

Since Lexi’s wish, she has been able to focus more on self-care. She has taken ownership of her cancer by creating a Facebook page to encourage awareness, which has a strong following. She is now more confident and positive in everything she does. Her family said that Lexi inspires others daily.

“There isn’t someone you can be more proud of,” said Lexi’s mom. “She never will give up and has been a fighter since day one.”

Lexi recently received her learner’s permit and has been practicing driving any time her mom will let her. She continues to update her fashion posts and stories on Instagram and is excited to see where that will take her.
