Enrique is a very happy, loving kid who is always smiling. He loves to be outdoors whenever he can. Enrique likes anything to do with soccer; he used to play, but now he enjoys watching it. Enrique likes to hang out with his brothers and be social with his friends.
Enrique was born with a genetic disorder that caused one half of his heart to be thicker than the other. This condition brings many day-to-day challenges such as issues with his balance, hand tremors, and issues that alter the shape of his back. Each of these issues has worsened as Enrique has aged.
When Enrique learned his condition qualified him to receive a wish, he began to focus on the positive. Visiting Paris has always been on Enrique’s bucket list so, he decided his one true wish was to cross Paris off his list. During his trip, Enrique saw all the sights, visiting museums, taking hundreds of photos, and shopping at local stores. He particularly loved the beauty of the Notre Dame cathedral, appreciating the age and history of the church. Halfway through his trip, Enrique and his family tried crêpes and quickly became hooked. Enrique’s favorite parts of his wish was being able to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and being able to see Mona Lisa in person.
Enrique was grateful he was able to spend this time traveling with his family and exploring different parts of the world and different cultures. He said he had a more positive and excited outlook on life. “I feel like my dreams actually came true,” Enrique said.
Now, Enrique is looking forward to beginning his sophomore year and excited to start driving soon.
