“ It gave all of us something to look forward to and helped soften the harshness of a difficult situation. ”

- Lincoln's Mom

Six-year-old Lincoln recently finished up his first year of kindergarten and his third year of chemotherapy. Lincoln was diagnosed with leukemia when he was three years old, and immediately began a very difficult and frightening treatment process.

The expense and side-effects of Lincoln’s treatment made it seemingly impossible for him to travel long distances, but he has always loved Legos® and dreamed of visiting Legoland® California.

About two years into Lincoln’s treatment, he learned that he qualified to make a wish. Without a second thought, he wished to take his family to visit the theme park he so longed to see. Lincoln and his siblings researched all of the rides online and excitedly awaited to take the vacation they had been dreaming of for years.

Lincoln and his family flew to San Diego, where they were greeted at the airport and escorted to a car. The airline gave Lincoln a special gift to make him feel at ease during the flight, and at the Legoland® resort there were Lego® building competitions and fun things to do around the hotel. Lincoln spent two days riding rides and meeting master Lego® builders at the park, and then spent one full day at the San Diego Zoo. One of the best parts of Lincoln’s trip was when he helped build a replica of himself with a master Lego® builder. The replica was placed on display in the park!

“The Make-A-Wish® trip gave all of us something to look forward to and helped soften the harshness of a difficult situation,” said Lincoln’s mom. “I will never forget how much fun our children had on this trip, and how lighthearted they were. Lincoln’s wish trip seemed to give him courage to finish treatment and made him feel normal.”

Lincoln has completed his cancer treatments and is looking forward to starting first grade. He is also learning how to swim and has lost two teeth.
