Ember's wish to meet her favorite princesses

“ Ember’s hard days at the hospitals during treatments would brighten up by being given a princess wig or a princess doll to help her look forward to her wish trip. ”

- Ember's Mom

When Ember was two years old, her parents discovered a lump on her stomach that was very unusual and concerning. Ember’s doctors did an ultra sound on her stomach, which helped diagnose a malignant tumor on Ember’s kidney. Shortly after being diagnosed, Ember went through six months of chemotherapy and radiation.

She finally had surgery to remove her kidney, and since then she has been cancer-free! She continues to see her doctor for check-ups every three months.

Ever since Ember could talk, she has loved Disney Princesses. She listens to all the songs from her favorite movies and loves dressing up like the characters. During her battle with cancer, Ember’s love for princess grew even stronger. After she had surgery, Ember watched Moana non-stop for four days straight, to pass the time during recovery. When chemotherapy caused Ember to lose her hair, her family brought her princess-themed wigs while she was in the hospital. Wearing the wigs and dressing up like the princesses helped take Ember’s mind off of the harsh realities of her medical treatments. Princesses have been with Ember during her whole journey, and when she learned she could meet all of her favorite princesses at Walt Disney World®, Ember immediately decided her one true wish was to visit her favorite theme parks in Orlando.

“It was amazing for her to have something to look forward to,” said Ember’s mom. “Ember’s hard days at the hospitals during treatments would brighten up by being given a princess wig or a princess doll to help her look forward to her wish trip.”

Ember loved every minute of her wish trip to Disney World. Her most memorable moment was when she was able to have breakfast with all the princesses! She got to hang out and talk to each, individually. At the park, Ember was very joyful and excited and could not stop talking about all the things they did that day.

This magical wish was very impactful for Ember and her family. Because Ember has gotten so many positive responses from her situation, she is more outgoing and happier. Today, Ember continues to be a princess at heart, and loves to wear her princess wigs during dress up!
