Shortly after Brynn was born, she had bluish coloring around her mouth. She was then taken in for an ultrasound, but nothing was found.
She was monitored in the NICU and transported to her local children’s hospital, where a cardiologist did further testing and diagnosed her with a heart defect. When she was four months old, Brynn underwent her first open heart surgery, followed by a second surgery at the age of two. Currently, only the left side of her heart is functioning correctly, and she will need a heart transplant in the future. She requires constant medications and goes in for frequent check-ups.
Despite the challenges she has faced since a young age, Brynn is a social butterfly and is always full of energy! She loves to set goals and be independent. Brynn has a passion for theatre and singing and loves musicals. Since Brynn was born with a heart defect, she had the opportunity to have a wish granted when she was younger, but her parents felt like they wanted to wait until she was older so that she could pick the perfect wish for herself.
During her senior year, Brynn declared her wish to be a model. She knew she was about to graduate from high school and wanted to have special graduation pictures that would commemorate her achievement. On the day of her photoshoot, Brynn was treated to a full red-carpet experience; she had her hair blown out at local salon, and then went to Macy’s at City Creek to meet her personal makeup artist and a stylist for the day. Her stylist helped Brynn her pick out her outfits for the shoot, which Macy’s generously gifted to her to keep. When she arrived via limousine to her photoshoot, she worked with a local fashion photographer and model, who helped give her some tips throughout the session. She loved every moment of her wish because she felt like a queen all day.
Brynn began classes at Loyola Marymount University this fall and is determined to get into the medical field. She wants to help others who are facing critical illnesses, just like her.
