Alyssas Wish to Sing on Broadway

Wish Kid Alyssa with Broadway actors and actresses

“ The audience was on their feet, wild with applause... ”

Alyssa has been everything from a total ham to a genius orator, one thing’s for sure: this girl was born to be star. The acting bug bit Alyssa at a young age, and she has stayed in the spotlight ever since.

Even though she was diagnosed with a seizure disorder, she can always be found singing and dancing, acting out plays on the stage in her basement, or writing skits for her friends. Alyssa’s big break finally came when she got the chance to make a wish. Her mind was flooded with visions of blinding stage lights and deafening applause—Alyssa was going to be on Broadway! After weeks of anticipation, she was finally whisked away to New York City, where her dream was about to come true!

Alyssa couldn’t believe how amazing the “Big Apple” was. She could hardly catch her breath between posing in front of the Empire State Building, gazing at the majesty of Lady Liberty, and riding in a carriage around Central Park. She even rode the subway for the very first time! Alyssa felt as if she was born for city life. Her cheeks hurt from smiling so much! Soon enough, it was time for her dress rehearsal. Alyssa met with the director of “On the Town,” the Broadway show in which she would play the part of a school girl on a field trip at the Museum of Natural History. He went over Alyssa’s songs with her, and then it was off to learn the dances! The choreographer had some fancy footwork prepared, but Alyssa caught on like a pro. After a big day of rehearsing, she was ready to break a leg!

The next day, Alyssa was picked up in a limo! She arrived at the Lyric Theatre for her matinee performance, cameras were flashing in a sea of lights as everyone tried to get a glimpse of the young star. In the green room, Alyssa had her make-up done, donned a school girl’s red wig, and with a stomach full of butterflies, stepped out into the spotlight. Before she knew it, the show was over. The audience was on their feet, wild with applause. Alyssa was even given her very own bow in the finale! The whistles and cheers echoed in her head all the way home. Oh, how sweet the taste of fame! Now that Alyssa’s back on her own stage at home, she’s a bigger star than ever. She plans on being in several more local performances, and is even writing her very own play. Watch out, Broadway! Before you know it, Alyssa’s name will be in lights.
