November 25, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 25, 2014

SALT LAKE CITY— It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Make-A-Wish® Utah (MAWU) will be kicking off the holiday season with an extra sprinkle of wish magic at the Gallivan Center’s “Lights On” celebration.

As part of MAWU’s Season of Wishes campaign, Skating with Santa invites everyone of all ages to enjoy an evening of ice skating and holiday fun, Friday November 29, at 4:00 p.m. at the Gallivan Center. Rumor has it that Jolly ol‘ St. Nick will be there checking his list and taking photos with the kids.

The evening’s festivities will include letter writing to Santa through the Macy’s Believe Campaign — Macy’s will donate $1 for every letter (up to $1 million) sent to the North Pole, and performances by DJ Jon Smith and the American Ice Theatre. One of MAWU’s Wish Kids, 8-year-old Grady Lynch, who is battling A.U.L. Leukemia, will help “flip the switch,” turning on the Gallivan Center’s twinkling lights.

Single tickets for ice skating (skates included) can be purchased for $8 for adults, kids 11 and under and seniors for $7, children under the age of three are free. Jon Smith, DJ

Jon Smith is the Mid-Day Guy and Music Director/Assistant Program Director on x96. Jon is a lifelong Utah resident, born and raised in Taylorsville. He's been on the air in Utah since 1996.
