SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER

Reports To: Director of Marketing and Development
Salary Range: $30K-$40K Annually, depending on experience

SUMMARY
Manage and grow four internal annual fundraising campaigns (currently $350K); this will also include identifying and soliciting corporations. Manage and grow external fundraisers (currently $330K) that are held with our collaborative partners throughout the state of Utah. Some weekend and evening work required.

BACKGROUND
Make-A-Wish Utah seeks funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations to support the wishes granted to Utah children with life-threatening medical conditions. It receives no government funding. Philanthropic giving and cause-related marketing are the only sources of revenue for the chapter. Success in fulfilling the mission and granting wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions is completely dependent on the effectiveness of the development team. The development department is responsible for all aspects of the development program including sponsorship support for events and logistics involved in holding events.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee planning and logistics of internal/external events.
• Identify, cultivate and steward corporate event sponsors.
• Lead volunteer committees for events.
• Collaborates with: Communications Coordinator, Director of Community Outreach and Director of Development.
• Timely, accurate data entry of events and sponsors.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field (this may include, but not be limited to: Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Fundraising).
• Minimum of two years of event management.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Must have the ability to work with a diverse audience that includes: volunteers, co-workers, board members and sponsors.
• Prioritization skills are a must.
• Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software is a plus.
